Still contemplating his celestial encounter, the servant of Our Lady of Guadalupe arrived at the Bishop's residence. He told the Bishop his amazing story. In disbelief, the Bishop politely told the dedicated Indian "Come back another day."
That same evening, Juan Diego returned to the spot on Tepeyac Hill where he had first met the beautiful Lady. She was there waiting for him. He pleaded with her to send someone with more social status --- someone more worthy than himself in order to carry out her request.
Our Lady responded kindly, "Know for certain, my dearest son and understand that I have many servants and messengers who I could charge with the delivery of my message. I HAVE CHOSEN YOU. It is altogether necessary that YOU should be the one to undertake this mission and it will be through your mediation and assistance that my wish should be accomplished. I urge you to go to the Bishop again tomorrow. Tell him my name and make him fully understand my position, that he should undertake the erection of the temple for which I ask. And repeat to him that it is I in person, the ever Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, who sends you."
On December l0th, the Lady's humble servant was able to meet with the Bishop again. This time, the Bishop was more attentive because he had been praying for an effective way to lead the people of this newly found American Continent to the True Faith. The Bishop asked Juan Diego for a "sign" from the Lady that all he had told him was the TRUTH.
SHE IS THE MOTHER OF GOD!
DO WE ALSO NEED A "SIGN?"
