Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time (also known as FNaF: In Real Time or just In Real Time) is an upcoming indie point-and-click fangame developed by Real Time Studios, inspired by Scott Cawthon's Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. It is a reimagining of the original Five Nights at Freddy's which, as its main gimmick, features animated camera movement alongside several new gameplay elements, brand new plot, and more.
Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time was officially announced on August 16, 2023, as the debut project of Real Time Studios. Initially, the game was intended to be a simple mod featuring animatronics moving on cameras, but the team, led by Taaryn, eventually decided to expand the project into a full-fledged game. The initial release date was set for April 27, 2024, but it was later delayed till June. As June came to a close, the release date remained uncertain and had was stated to only be "coming soon".
The game currently stands with releasing two demos. On January 5, 2024, a teaser demo was released, which was disguised as a troll demo for "Fnqaf a Freddy's". The second demo, intended for streamers and the VORTEX charity stream, was released in celebration of raising $4,000 for The Rainforest Trust charity.
The plot of Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time takes place exactly ten years after the events of the original game. As apposed to Michael Afton, Donavan Sheehan serves as our protagonist, who takes a job as a night-guard and technician at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza at a point where the location is on the verge of shutting down. During his shift, Donavan tries to uncover the secrets mysterious plaguing the location, but his tracks are being watched by an unknown entity that seems determined to erase all evidence.
Since the announcement of Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time, several music videos have been released as promotional materials to hype up the game. Additionally, an upcoming installment to the Real Time saga, titled FNAF MOVIE GAME, is set to retell the story of the Five Nights at Freddy's official film.

Gameplay
Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time attempts to be a 1-1 recreation of the original Five Nights at Freddy's game, but with some distinct and unique features. The main gimmick of the game is that the animatronics move in real-time on the monitor feed, unlike in the original where they would glitch and appear still. Additionally, the animatronics have more freedom in their movement, as they can enter the office through both the west and east hallways. However, despite these changes, the game does not expand upon the basic mechanics of the original, aside from featuring new animations in familiar cameras. Unfortunately, this means that some of the disliked mechanics from the original, such as Scott's implementation of Freddy Fazbear, are still present in this game.
Due to fluid animatronic movements being the main gimmock of the game, according to Taaryn on Reddit, each animatronic was given a distinct movement style when roaming on the cameras. Bonnie appears to move with slow, fluid motions, while Chica alternates between periods of complete stillness and jerky, "floppy" movements. Freddy, on the other hand, moves with a more robotic pace, which is evident based off his fixated arm posture. Finally, Foxy was animated with curiosity and aggression in mind for his movements.[1]

The public demo released on July 15, 2024 serves as an introduction to the basic gameplay and character mechanics of Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time. While the game largely aims to replicate the original Five Nights at Freddy's experience with a twist, Real Time Studios has taken some creative liberties to differentiate their game. This article will organize the animatronic mechanics in the order of their appearance in the original Five Nights at Freddy's, which is suggested to carry over in this game.
Bonnie the Bunny will be one of three animatronics first depicted standing alongside his bandmates on the Show Stage. Upon activating, he will exit the Show Stage camera and either skip the Dining Hall entirely or cut to a feed showing him standing in the Dining Hall. Though, eventually, Bonnie will progress and have the option to enter either the West Hall, East Hall, or Parts & Service. If Bonnie enters Parts & Service, he will soon return to the Dining Hall. Once Bonnie walks through the hallway, he will be set in the cameras designated corner feed, adjacent to the Office. Interestingly, Bonnie can also choose to turn back and reappear in the Dining Area, which is more common when another animatronic is already occupying the hallway. If entering the West Hall, Bonnie may additionally enter the Supply Closet. Nonetheless, once he leaves his corner camera, he will appear at the door when the Lights button is pressed, requiring the player to close it. Failure to do so will result in Bonnie jamming the door and jumpscare the player.
Chica the Chicken is another of the three animatronics initially shown standing alongside her bandmates on the Show Stage. Similar to Bonnie, when activated, Chica will exit the Show Stage. She will subsequently enter the Dining Hall and stare at the feed before suddenly turning her body in the opposite direction and entering either the West Hall or East Hall. Like Bonnie, after walking through the hallway, Chica will be present on the designated corner camera feed, adjacent to the Office, or she may turn back and re-enter the Dining Hall. Once she leaves her position on the corner cameras, she will appear at the door, requiring players to close it. Failure to do so will result in Chica jamming the door and jumpscaring the player.
Freddy Fazbear is the final of the three animatronics to debut on the Show Stage camera. As the titular antagonist, he typically exits the Show Stage last. However, when he does exit, he will march into the Dining Hall. Unlike Bonnie and Chica, Freddy can be stalled on the cameras, making it essential for players to monitor him, as he will move through his next phase if left unchecked. A unique feature of Freddy's behavior is that he has distinct phases on individual cameras, rather than simply moving from one camera to another. After exiting the Dining Hall, Freddy will go through two phases on the same camera before heading towards either the West Hall, East Hall, or Restrooms. Shortly after, Freddy will appear on the designated corner camera feed, adjacent to the Office, or he may turn back and re-enter the Dining Hall. This is fortunate, as Freddy will need to go through his two phases again while being stalled on the camera. It is crucial for players to monitor Freddy, as he will appear at the door if not stalled, and players must keep it shut to prevent him from jumspcaring them. Additionally, if Freddy is not stalled on camera, he will drain the player's power by repeatedly forcing them to keep their door closed. Failure to stall Freddy or keep the door shut will result in a jumpscare from.
Foxy the Pirate occupies his own stage on the Pirate's Cove camera. Like Freddy, Foxy can be stalled by simply monitoring the camera, but over time, he will gradually peak from the curtains and subsequently step off stage, preparing to rush towards the Office. In the public demo, Foxy is limited to entering the player's Office via the West Hallway, although it is planned for him to have the ability to randomly choose the East Hallway as well in future versions. Once Foxy leaves Pirate's Cove, he will wait for the camera to be clear of any other antagonists before making a dash for his selected door. To prevent this, players must shut the door before he reaches the end of the hallway. Failure to do so will result in Foxy jumpscaring the player.
Upcoming Content
Throughout promotional materials for Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time, Brother is introduced as the new fifth character, replacing Golden Freddy and acting as a metaphysical character who has an unknown relationship with Donovan Sheehan. According to Taaryn, this change was made due to the fact that Donovan had no prior connection to Golden Freddy. However, Taaryn has also hinted that Golden Freddy will make an appearance in the game, although it's unclear whether this will be in the form of an Easter egg, a physical appearance, or simply a mention. The exact nature of Golden Freddy's appearance has not been clarified further, but it has been confirmed that he will "appear in the game one way or another".[Citation needed]
In addition to previously planned cameras, Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time will also feature two new cameras. Based off a gameplay teaser and a built room in the Five Nights at Freddy's: Management Wanted Minecraft mod, these two cameras are CAM 8, the Safe Room camera, and CAM 9, the Entrance camera. Furthermore, it is planned that the Kitchen camera will be accessible, showing Freddy and Chica inside the room when opportunities arise.[Citation needed]
In addition to the other features, Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time will also include a "Mini-map" segment. In this segment, players will be transported to an 8-bit mini-game of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza where Donovan can be controlled navigating through a hub world featuring the animatronics roaming freely around the location. According to @fazfactz on Twitter, this mini-map will serve as a connecting hub between each night and the rest of the story.[2] Notably, some assets from the mini-map segments were reused in the teaser demo. Taaryn has also confirmed that the colors and dialogue colors of characters like Donovan will hold significant importance.[Citation needed]
